Irondequoit NY
Community Scans
Help us make Irondequoit a safer and healthier community!
What are community scans?
A community scan generates information that local organizations may use to identify and implement strategies that will drive positive changes in their community. Uplift Irondequoit’s intended outcome from community scans are to identify “hot spots” in Irondequoit, NY where YOUTH may congregate and misuse substances.
An identified hot spot could include a location where you find paraphernalia products (such as discarded vapes, alcohol containers, used needles, marijuana product packaging, or other paraphenalia) laying around a park. Notice your surroundings when you find these products, are you near a school? In a park? Which streets intersects the location you are finding these products?
Another thing to look for are the following: poor lighting, graffiti, broken glass, potential drug dealing.
Pay attention as to where you are finding these things.. is it by a location that youth congregate? Is this a pathway home from a local school? Is it a park where kids play pick up basketball? This is important because it may be an identifying factor as to where youth might be using substances.
